Which formats can I convert between?
JPEG, PNG, WebP and AVIF in any direction. Files already in the target format are skipped.
Will converting to PNG make my file smaller or larger?
PNG is lossless, so it is usually larger than JPEG or WebP. Choose it when you need transparency or a lossless copy.
WebP or AVIF?
AVIF compresses better and produces smaller files, but encodes slower and has weaker support in older browsers. WebP is the safer default.
Can I extract a frame from a video?
No. This tool only handles still images. To extract audio from a video, use the Audio Transcoding page.
Is transparency preserved?
Converting to WebP, AVIF or PNG keeps the alpha channel. Converting to JPEG fills transparent areas with a solid color.
